Born in Mapleville, he was a son of the late John and Jennie (Haggerty) Hanley.
Mr. Hanley was an Army Veteran of WWII involved with the atomic bomb project along with the Manhattan engineer's and witnessed the first test in White Sands, NM.
Mr. Hanley worked as a carpenter for Zambarano Hospital for 11 years before retiring in 1978. Prior to that he was a longtime carpenter in the Northern RI area.
He is survived by two daughters, Darlene Durand and husband Thomas and Deborah Gloria, and granddaughters Lauren Cleary and husband Kevin, Christina and Alicia Gloria, and great granddaughter Mackenzie Cleary. He was the brother of the late John Hanley and Loretta Robidoux.
His funeral will be held on Monday at 8:30 am from the Brown Funeral Home, 1496 Victory Hwy., Oakland, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Our Lady of Good Help Church, Mapleville. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Harrisville. Calling hours are Sunday 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Daniel's name to a charity of your choice.
