Virgie Elizabeth Sites Van Meter, 89, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Sunday, November 18, 2012, in her home.

Mrs. Van Meter was born in 1923, in Pansy, West Virginia, the daughter of the late James Michael and Mary Catherine Sites. She was a homemaker and a member of Living Waters Christian Fellowship Church in Frederick County, Virginia. Virgie was special to everyone who came in contact with her; she will always be remembered for sharing her smile and generosity with everyone. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She married Lester Curtis Van Meter on March 15, 1943, he preceded her in death in 1972.

Surviving is her daughter, Anna Clayton and her husband, Harry, of Winchester; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters and three brothers.

Two sons, James Curtis Van Meter and Larry Wayne Van Meter, Sr., one sister and three brothers, preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, prior to the service, from 1:00-2:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Minister Roy Riley officiating. Interment will follow in Gainesboro Cemetery.
