The memorial service for Alfred R. Biggs Sr., 71, of Bassett, who died Jan. 1, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, N.C., will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at The Church at Mercy Crossing, 1978 Joseph Martin Highway, Martinsville.
The family will receive friends after the service until 8 p.m.
Biggs was born Nov. 22, 1940, in Radford to Isaac William Biggs and Inis D. Scaggs Biggs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James W. Biggs and Clarence M. Biggs; and a sister, Sadie Eunice Biggs.
Surviving are five children, Alfred R. Biggs Jr. of Alexandria, Basil E. Biggs of Bassett, Roger D. Biggs of Ridgeway, Bonnie A. Biggs of Greensboro, N.C., and Jessica Flynn of Macon, Ga.; four grandchildren; two brothers, William D. Biggs of Cana and John D. Biggs of Hillsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Bassett Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
