DALLAS - Ellen Elizabeth Dalton went peacefully to be with her Lord on August 26th, at the age of 93. She was born in Verdigre, Nebraska, the youngest of the five children of Emma and Herbert Van Buren. She grew up on a farm in Nebraska and graduated from Verdigre Public High School in 1936, as the Valedictorian of her class.

Ellen married Harley Anthen Dalton in 1937, and they moved to Oregon, where she resided until her death. She worked as a pre-school and kindergarten teacher until the birth of her two children. She combined being a mother and homemaker with working at home keeping the books for her husband's cattle business. Ellen was a long time active member of the Independence Baptist Church, Monmouth-Independence Garden Club, and Christian Women's Club. She volunteered at multiple blood drives, worked at election precinct locations, and at the Jensen Arctic Museum. She enjoyed working with children and was a den mother for Cub Scouts, active with the Monmouth-Independence Young Life Group, and hosted many events for First Baptist Youth Groups. Ellen liked to travel, and she visited many places in the United States and around the world. She was a wonderful loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Ellen loved spending time with her family and following the special events in their lives.

Ellen is preceded in death by her four older siblings, husband Harley, and son Clifford. She is survived by her daughter Velma DuFault (David), daughter-in-law Donna Dalton, and her four grandchildren Tami DuFault-Toomb (Kent), Scott DuFault (Anne Marie), Kathleen Moore (Tom), and Jason Dalton (Alyssa). She is fondly remembered by her 11 great grandchildren: Zachary, Jordan, and Jacob DuFault, Katherine and Christopher Toomb, Elizabeth, Kyle, Michael, and Joshua Moore, and Charlie and Finley Dalton.
