Jean Grant is the daughter of John Grant, and she was born in Scotland. Her actual birth date is most likely December 5, 1732 in Abernethy and Kincardine, Moray, Scotland. Her mother's Christian name is most likely Isabella. Jean Grant-Stuart immigrated to "New Stamford" near Utsayantha Lake (in present town of Jefferson), Schoharie County, New York, with her husband, Dr. James Stuart, and her children in 1774. In 1777, Jean Grant moved from Schoharie County, New York to Osnabruck Twp., Stormont County, Ontario with her husband and children. Dr. James Stuart and Jean Grant had six children as follows:
