Helmar DeBoer was injured on the 20th of December 1902 as a result of a bullet wound. Against all odds he did improve to the point that hope was gained for recovery but that was lost when he succumbed to his wound on the 6th of January 1903 after a lot of suffering.
The departed was born on the 9th day of October 1873 at Simonswolde, German and reached the age of 29 years and 3 months minus 3 days. On the 15th of December 1899, he was married to Hilke Kruger and they were blessed with 2 children.
He was a faithful and caring father to his family. We thank the Lord that on his sick bed he prayed much for forgiveness of his sins and how the feeling that Jesus left with him became his confidence which he said himself.
Paster E. Frerks and the undersigned spoke at the home and at the church before a large gathering of mourners that expressed their heartfeld loss for the wife and the numerous relative. The Ruler of all things desires her to look upward!
In the name of the family, H. Dallmares, Pastor, George, Lyon Co., Iowa
