Rudolph Antl, resident of the rural Elysian community for most of his lifetime, passed away Saturday, December 11, at the age of 100 years at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Waterville.
Rudolph would have attained the remarkable advanced age of 101 years within a few weeks, on January 6, 1977.
A native of Austria, he came to the Elysian area at the age of seven years. His marriage to Florence Shave of this community took place on Nov. 20, 1905 and they hard farmed for many years northeast of town in Elysian Township.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, this week at two o'clock at the Elysian United Methodist Church. Rev. Harold Stuart of Janesville, pastor, officiated. Interment was in cedar Hill cemetery, Elysian.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Adams, Roger Adams, Carl Adams, Roger Boyum, Gary Jewison, and Curtis Bohlen, grandsons of the deceased.
Visitation was Monday afternoon and evening at the Prosch Funeral Home in Waterville.
Mr. Antl is survived by his wife, Florence, of Colonial Manor, Waterville; three daughters and one son – Mrs. Kervin (Inez) Adams and Mrs. Amy Floyd of Elysian and Marvin Antl, rural Elysian, and Mrs. Francis (Gladys) Jewison of Mapleton. He also leaves eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
