Mrs. Rudolph Antl
Mrs. Florence (Shave) Antl passed away at the District One Hospital in Faribault, Minnesota, February 8, 1877, at the age of 95 years, 5 months and 12 days.
She was born August 27, 1881, to Edwin and Mary (Douglas) Shave in Elysian, Minnesota, whose home was located where Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Kline now live.
She started school where the Kenneth Ritchison residence is now located, then attended the new public school which is now the Le Sueur County Historical Society Museum.
After finishing school she spent some time in Nebraska at the home of an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. George Foster, who lived in a sod house. While there she taught in a one room school a short distance away.
After returning home from Nebraska she was a clerk in Galagan's General Store.
She was a member of the Elysian Episcopal Church where she was organist for many years.
On November 20, 1905, she married Rudolph Antl, who passed away December 11, 1976, at the age of 100 years, 11 months and 5 days. Rev. Crickmeyer officiated at their marriage at the Episcopal Church in Waterville. They resided on a farm two miles northeast of Elysian where their son Marvin and wife now live.
She was clerk of School Dist. 74 for several years and was an active member of the Ridgeroad Ladies Home Extension Club for many years.
In November, 1947, she fell, breaking a hip, hospitalizing her until she was moved to the St. Lucas Nursing Home at Faribault. In July 1975 she entered Colonial Manor Nursing Home at Waterville where she was cared for until going to the District One Hospital for surgery January 27th and passed away February 8.
Visitation was at the Prosch Funeral Home in Waterville Thursday afternoon and evening. Funeral services were at the United Methodist Church in Elysian, where she was a member, on Friday, February 11, at 2 p.m. Rev. Harold Stuart officiated. There will be spring interment at Cedar Hill cemetery, Elysian.
Casket bearers were John Adams, Steven Adams, Thomas Knish and Bruce Knish, great grandsons; and Elmer Lamont and Norman Knish, husbands of granddaughters of the deceased.
