Joseph and his family migrated to Henderson County,
Tennessee sometime before the birth of son Joel in May of 1836. Among the many from Anson County who moved to Henderson County with Joseph were brother-in-law Joseph Smith and his family. Joseph died between 1838 and 1840 in Henderson County, Tennessee.
Son Amon would recount later that they used the same wagon that the family had used on their migration to take Joseph’s
body to the cemetery. Cause of Death: CONSUMPTION at the age of 56
Wed Elizabeth Amanda "Betsy" Smith in 1810 in Anson County, North Carolina. They had 9 known children.
Children with unknown or non connected burials:
- Moses Pearce 1810 – 1830 died in Young, Texas
- John Madison "Matt" PIERCE 1816 – 1850 Died in Tennessee
- Hiram Pearce 1817 – 1880 wed Phoebe or Pheby WRIGHT
(daughter of James ? WRIGHT) was born between 1808 and 1818 in NC.
- Andrew J "Andy" Pierce 1825 – 1860
- Bill Pierce 1830 – 1861
