Fayette County's medical history practically begins with Dr. Samuel Sackett, who was a surgeon in the Revolution, and came to Beesontown, the later Uniontown, in the month of September, 1781, as the war was closing. He was in Uniontown from 1781 to 1788, and them removed to his farm at George's Creek, but he continued to practice mecicine for about forty years, and until his death in 1833.
