Doris Horning Matthews Morley, 95, of Greensburg, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, in The Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Greater Pittsburgh at Greensburg. She was born Aug. 18, 1913, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late James L. Sr. and Effie Durst Horning. She was the former owner of the American Indian Jewelry Stores in Greensburg and Ligonier, and was a member of Alpha Ministries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel G. Matthews; her second husband, Kenneth V. Morley; and two sisters, Grace Horning Herbert and Patricia Horning Moore. Doris is survived by four sons, Dr. Ted A. Matthews and his wife, Shirley, of Ligonier, Keith B. Matthews and his wife, Susan, Samuel G. Matthews, and Dennis L. Matthews and his wife, Mary Ann, all of Greensburg; her daughter, Carol F. Matthews, of Greensburg; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, James L. Horning Jr., of Rector; a number of nieces and nephews; and very special friend, Linda Paxton. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the COSHEY-NICHOLSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 319 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, at which time funeral service will be held with the Rev. James Lyons officiating. The family would like to extend appreciation to the nurses and staff of The Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Greater Pittsburgh at Greensburg for their wonderful care during our mother's illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alpha Ministries, P.O. Box 3001, Greensburg, PA 15601. Alvin P. Oskin Jr., supervisor, in charge of arrangements.
