Grand Island (NE) Daily Independent November 18, 1982 Thursday p. 22, col. 2-3:

Martha C. Duester, 82, of 509 E. 22nd, died Tuesday at a local hospital.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elba. The Rev. Thomas Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in Elba Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home and Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. A rosary will be recited Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Foster officiating. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Cathedral.
Mrs. Duester was born Aug. 9, 1900, at Paplin. She received her education in the Paplin area.
On Nov. 8, 1920, she married Frank Duester at Farwell. She was employed at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant during World War II, worked for the schools in the 1950s and was employed at Lutheran Hospital in the 1960s.
Mrs. Duester was a member of St. Mary's parish and altar society and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Frank of Denver, Colo.; Robert of San Jose, Calif., and Daniel of Tacoma, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Eva) Randolph and Mrs. Marvin (Diane) Friend, both of Grand Island; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ed (Isabelle) Sawicki.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, three sisters and three brothers.
