WHITE, ARTHUR AND THELMA (MOORE) - By Marian White Celio
"Arthur Clinton White was born on August 4, 1892 at Wood River, Nebraska.
Thelma Alice Moore was born on December 25, 1906, to Perry and Nelle Moore in Ash Canyon, northeast of Ansley, Nebraska. Thelma moved with her family to Myrtle Township about ten miles west of Arcadia. She received her schooling at Myrtle School.
Art and Thelma were married at Minden, Nebraska on January 23, 1928. They lived in Hastings, Nebraska for several years where Art owned his own shoe shop.
While living in Hastings they had two daughters. Marian Maxine was born on January 19, 1929. Jo Ann was born on June 19, 1930.
In 1933, Art opened a shoe shop in Arcadia. Kenneth Dale was born on August 12, 1933.
The Arthur White family lived in and around Arcadia until 1942 leaving Fremont for the East Coast. While a resident of Arcadia, Art plied his trade as a shoemaker. One shop location now houses an upholstery shop on the main street. Marian and Jo Ann's education began in the Aarcadia school system with graduation from Connecticut schools. Kenneth graduated from Arcadia High School.
The children were baptized in the Methodist Church in Arcadia. We still have memories of our performance in Tom Thum Weddings there. As children we spent many summer vacations in Arcadia. From time to time we have made a visit back (In these later years.) Recently we attended a family reunion held at Aracadia Park in July of 1977. We had the occasion to renew relationships with persons we had not seen in thirty years or more. We are planning to get together again in 1982. Arthur and Thelma Moore White both died in Hartford, Connecticut and are buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Wethersfield, Connecticut. Kenneth retired from the U.S. Army in 1971 after twenty years of service and now resides in Columbia, South Carolina with his family. He is an administrator in a Jr.-Sr. High School.
Jo Ann lives in Enfield, Connecticut and works for a Hallmark Greeting Card Company in that city.
Marian is a resident of Hebron, Connecticut and is a Town Clerk.
Although residents of other states now, we all still have strong feeling for and attachments to Arcadia and Nebraska."
