He was born Sept. 3, 1934 to Marvin and Lillian Bloom of Milaca. He graduated from Milaca High School in 1952 and attended the University of Minnesota where he earned a degree in Sociology. For over 30 years, Vern was a professor at Augsburg College for where he started many innovative programs.
Vern loved reminiscing about his days growing up in Milaca and had written articles for the Mille Lacs County Times over the last few years. He also loved music and helped to put on programs entitled "Milaca Memories" at the Elim Home in Milaca.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents Lillian (Hagglund) Bloom, Marvin Bloom and stepmother Donna (Dahl) Bloom.
