GREENVILLE — The funeral for James Benton Gaston will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Boone-Wells Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Greenville.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Boone-Wells Funeral Home in Greenville, which is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Gaston, 84, died Saturday, June 26, 2009, at his home in Greenville. A native of Starkville and a Starkville High School graduate, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II on the U.S.S. Kretschmar in the Atlantic and Pacific theatres with the rank of petty officer.
After his discharge, he attended Moorhead Junior College. He was employed with Delta Implement Co. for 41 years and was an avid hunter and member of First Presbyterian Church of Greenville.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Sanford Gaston of Greenville; one daughter, Ann G. Bradshaw and her husband, James, of Pearl; one son, Ben Gaston and his wife, Sherry, of Indianola; three sister, Margaret Nabors of Corinth, Annie Dell Hess of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Evelyn Randle of Starkville; one brother, Herbert Gaston of Pawtucket, R.I.; and one granddaughter, Lisa Ann Bradshaw of Pearl.
