TERRIBLE BLOW TO HIS MOTHER - She Had Previously Lost Two Sons by Accident on the Railroad, and is In a Serious Condition as Result of Latest Blow.

Samuel Nichols, of Buena Vista, Washington county, employed as a freight brakeman on the Western Maryland Railroad, was instantly killed Saturday night by being run over by a freight train near Highfield.

Nichols was 30 years old and unmarried.

He was the last of three brothers, all of whom met death on railroads.

Nichols was a son of Mrs. Samuel Nichols, of Buena Vista, who survives along with two sisters.

The news of her son's tragic death, being a repitition of similar shocks, has seriously affected the health of Mrs. Nichols. Her distress over this last blow is pitiful.

Nichols' older brother was killed on the B. & O. twelve years ago, and another was run over by a train at McCoy's Ferry, about five years ago.

Nichols made his home with his mother at Buena Vista. He had been on the road for several years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Trainmen, Red Men, and Jr. O. U. A. M. His sisters are Mrs. John Moser and Mrs. Elmer Wagaman, both of near Buena Vista. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, interment being made near Highfield.

Yesterday afternoon Mrs. Nichols was still unconscious as the result of the shock of her son's death.
