Born in Lafayette, Ind., Jan. 9, 1877, Alkire came to Denver in 1904. He owned and operated a drug store at S. Broadway and Iowa Ave. for 30 years before his retirement several years ago.
Alkire was a member of South Gate Lodge 138, AF&AM; Electa Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star; El Jebel Shrine, Colorado Consistory 1 Commandery, Knights Templar and the National Retail Druggists Assn. He was a veteran of World War I.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, Long Beach, Calif.
