Funeral Services for Mrs. Ann Sewell Birchfield, age 85 of Oxford, will be Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Benefield Funeral Home Chapel in Lineville with Bro. Larry Ward officiating. Burial will follow in The Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Birchfield passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston. She was a native of Mingo County, West Virginia, grew up in Clay County and lived for most of the last 30 years in Calhoun County. Mrs. Birchfield worked as a Payroll Clerk at Regional Medical Center in Anniston and retired in 1986. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Oxford.
Mrs. Birchfield is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Isbell of Oxford; one son, James Clinton Birchfield Jr. of Munford; one sister, Lillie Mae Harris of Vincent; four grandchildren: Kelly Chastain, Charlie Birchfield, Chris Birchfield, all of Oxford and Billy Birchfield of Lineville plus nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: William Franklin Sewell and Della Pearl Dewberry Sewell; her husband, James Clinton Birchfield Sr.; one sister Wilma Lee Daugherty plus one infant grandson, Barry Dunston.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Birchfield, Chris Birchfield, Billy Birchfield, Leroy Birchfield, Chris Chastain, Austin Chastain, Rayford Daugherty, Terry Daugherty and Troy Mattox.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 and until service time on Saturday, November 21, 2009.
