Annabel Armstrong, age 89, went home to be with our Lord on Tuedsay, November 13, 2012, in McMinnville, Oregon.

She was born January 16, 1923, to Ferris L. and Alma (Manthey) Strait. She was born and raised on a farm in the Chehalem Valley near Newberg, Oregon. After graduating from high school she moved to Portland and attended Hastings Business College. She entered the Navy (WAVES) at the start of WWII. While stationed in Alameda, California, she married Wendell Armstrong. They lived in California until moving to Eugene, Oregon, in 1944 to start their family. In 1945 they moved to Salem then to Newberg, where she attended George Fox University, and in 1948 moved to McMinnville. She was bookkeeper for Linfield Commons and then Saga Food service at Linfield from 1961 to 1969.

Annabel was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and active in the ladies mission group. She was active in West Chehalem Rural Homemakers. She enjoyed making mosaic stepping stones, stained glass, sewing and quilting, cooking and traveling. Her favorite getaway was a trip to the Oregon coast. Her family was important to her and she looked forward to family gatherings. Her grandchildren and great grand children will always remember "grandma rolls".

She is survived by her husband Wendell Armstrong of McMinnville, Oregon, son Terry Armstrong and wife Diane of McMinnville, daughter Connie Espejo and husband Richard of McMinnville, and brother Paul Strait of Lyle, Washington. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Christine DeBon, Jennifer McMullen, Brandon Armstrong, Stefanie Church, and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Russell, Donald, Morris "Lee", and Cecil Strait.

Annabel was a bookkeeper for Linfield Commons and Saga Food Services at Linfield from 1961-1969. Memorial Services will be held Monday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, McMinnville.
