Addison was born to Artemas Leach (1788-1866) and Eunice Weeks (1787-1866).

He married Priscilla Caswell (1832-1906) on 10 Dec 1851.

They had four children:
Henri Herbert Leach (1852-1917)
Elizabeth Juliette (Leach) Crawford (1855- )
Frank Edgar (1858-1858)
Frederick 'Freddie' (1859-1859)

Addison was a carpenter.
He served in the Union Army during the American Civil War - 27th Massachusetts Inf. Company B 'Rank: Musician' 1861-1865
