June was united in marriage with Raymond Ackerman on August 14, 1959, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville. The couple remained lifelong residents of Clarksville. June worked as a Nursing Assistant at Allen Hospital for a number of years and was also employed at the Shell Rock Care Center.
June was a past member of the Community United Methodist Church in Clarksville where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. She also enjoyed serving on the ladies guild and helping with church functions.
In her free time, June enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and had a large collection of cookbooks and related magazines. Perhaps one of her greatest joys was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
June died on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at the Clarksville Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville, of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond on February, 3, 2001; and one daughter, Pamela Tietz.
June is survived by two daughters, Mary (Marlin) Hinders and Sandra (Donald) Miller all of Clarksville; John Smith of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Jessi (Tim) Reints, Joe Hinders, Aaron Miller and Amber Miller; three great-grandchildren, Brandt and Leyton Reints, Peighton Grantham; one brother, Richard (LaVerne) Crosby of Charles City; one half-sister, Norma (Robert) Izer of Cedar Falls.
Private Family Services will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012, with inurnment at Lynwood Cemetery, Clarksville.
