He was born in Fort Wayne on March 15, 1935, the son of Orison and Wilma (Snoke) Stolz. He was married to Evelyn Ellen Kuhn, who preceded him in death. He married Carolyn Hix in 1985 and she survives. He worked in graphic arts for the Berne Witness from 1960-1975. He worked for Lehman Heating and Cooling and Myers Heating and Plumbing, retiring in 1999 and was also engaged in farming. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; one son, Kenneth Stolz (wife-Patti) of Ogden, IA; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Renee) Holland of Farmersville, OH, Teresa Wu of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Harry (Carolyn Jean) Wilklow of Savannah, GA; two stepsons, Lee Hirschy of Portland, and Mark Hirschy of Bryant; two sisters, Rachael Meyer of Geneva, and Martha Jean Baumgartner of Bluffton; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland with burial in the Stateline Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or American Lung Association.
