"James Wilson Mourning, son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Hubbard) Mourning, was born June 6th 1834 on the Roger Mourning plantation, and died in Campbellsville, KY, May 23 1919. I believe that James was a farmer although he may have been a teacher. When I visited Campbellsville in 1930 I met many of his old friends and others who knew "Uncle Jimmie" and all spoke of him with the highest respect. His first wife was Sarah Buchanan who bore one daughter and died. His second wife was Elizabeth A. Durham born Oct. 8 1837 and died Feb. 23 1892, who had eight children. I believe that James and both wives are buried at Bethel Church three miles out of Campbellsville on the Columbia Road. Roger Mourning had a small Bible bound in buckskin which it is said went to James Mourning. I am not certain if that was his son James who died in an institution in Lexington or this James Wilson."
