Crowley–It is with great sadness that the family of Alena Jobe Thayer announce her passing from this life on November 1, 2012. As a devout Christian and charter member of Parkerson Avenue Baptist Church, we know she lived her life according to Psalm 48:14, which states, "For this God is our God forever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end." She not only believed in following Christ to the end, but also in living life to the fullest to the end! On October 21, she and her family happily celebrated her 88th birthday with lots of fun, laughter, and love. Alena was also a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Crowley and Lafayette Chapter #46. Alena was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Gervaise Thayer, whom she married on June 3, 1943. Also by her parents, William (Bill) and Bernice Jobe, and brother, Dickie Jobe. She is survived by two sons: Thomas Norman Thayer and his wife, Linda Heyduck Thayer of Bridge City, Texas, and Larry Francis Thayer and his wife, Jean Dowling Thayer of Crowley; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister: Gerry Richard; and two brothers: Burl Jobe and Clifford Jobe. A memorial service officiated by Pastor Chris Campo will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Parkerson Avenue Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please offer donations to the Parkerson Avenue Baptist Church Nursing Home fund.
