Edelia was born July 14, 1899, in
Newell, to Knud C. and Hannah
Bodholdt. She graduated from
Newell High School where she was
active in declamatory work. She
won first place in the Iowa state
declamatory contest in 1918.
While attending the University of
Iowa for one year, she became a
member of Octave Thanet Literary
Society. She then studied at the
MacPhail School of Dramatic and
Fine Arts, Minneapolis, Minn. She
later pursued her interest in
dramatics and reading in the Newell
area by directing plays, coaching
declamatory students, and giving
poems and readings. Her interest in
poetry culminated with several
poems published in "Poetic Voices
of America, 1990-92."

Edelia married Walter DeWitt
Jenson Feb. 24, 1923. The couple
farmed in Providence Township
northwest of Newell. After
retirement, the Jensons spent their
winters in the south where they
made friends and studied shells.

In 1966, Edelia moved to Spirit
Lake where she was a member of the
Past Matrons Club of the Order of
the Eastern Star and Lac D'Esprit
Federated Club. She was also a
member of the Newell First
Congregational Church.

She was preceded in death by her
husband; parents; daughter —
Yvonne; four brothers — Clarence,
Hans, Chris and Albert; infant
brother — Albert; three sisters —
Tena Nicolaisen, Spencer; Carrie
Gundelach, Havelock; and Amanda
Bodholdt, Newell; and three greatgrandsons.
