Death of H.C. Tuttle
Hiram C. Tuttle, a pioneer of Salinas, died of pneumonia, at his home in San Miguel Canyon, about 4 o’clock last Monday afternoon, leaving a wife and several children to mourn their great loss. The deceased was a native of Ohio and in the fifty eighth year of his age. He had been sick only a few days. he was highly esteemed and respected by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. he was senior vice commander of James H. Steedman Post G.A.R. of Salinas, under whose auspices the old soldier was laid away to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery yesterday afternoon. A vast concourse of people followed the remains to the grave.

He was a school teacher, and was Senior Vice Commander of the James B. Steedman Post 56 of Salinas at time of death.
