Before retiring in 1983, he was employed with Whirlpool Corp. He was a World War II Army veteran, was a member of LaRue United Methodist Church; Findlay Lodge 227, F&AM; Mary Lenox Chapter 98, Order of Eastern Star; American Legion; Whirlpool Management Club; and was a past president of LaRue Lions Club.
Before his illness, he was Republican Central Committeeman for Marion County.
