Leona Edwards Jackson, age 84, Asbury Place Care Center, Maryville, formerly of Erwin, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. Jackson was a lifelong resident of Erwin moving to Maryville in 2009 to be close to her loving son. She was a daughter of the late Richard G. and Lillian Greenlee Edwards.
Mrs. Jackson was a Library clerk at Love Chapel School for over 30 years retiring in 1993.
She was a very active lady who would go bowling twice a week, often went line dancing with friends, was a member of the hiking club, and loved to play the piano. Mrs. Jackson was a longtime faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church and loved her church family. Her supreme enjoyment were her grandchildren.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Porter Jackson, who passed away in 1988.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by her son: Tom Jackson and wife Becky, Maryville; one grandson: Spencer Jackson, Chattanooga, Tennessee; one granddaughter: Jennifer Jackson, Charleston, South Carolina; one brother: Phillip Edwards, Georgia; five sisters: Fanny Garland, Erwin, Vivian Brock, and husband, Blake, Hendersonville, Tennessee, Evelyn Bates, Johnson City, Carmel Freeman and husband, Bud, Jonesborough, Wanda Padgett and husband Glenn, St. Petersburg, Florida

Graveside service for Mrs. Jackson will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2012, in Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Garland James will officiate.
Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:45 a.m. Monday.
Active pallbearers will be selected from men of the church.

There will be no formal visitation.
