Russell O. Swanson age 94 of Riverton died Nov. 9, 2012 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. He was born on February 24, 1918 in Minneapolis to Carl and Signe (Sandstrom) Swanson. Russell was a WWII Army veteran. He is a retired postal service employee with 30 years of service in the Twin City area. He was a member of the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443, Ironton and the Cuyuna Country Club and a life member of VFW post 1149, Minneapolis. Survivors include his wife, Delores; sons, Richard (Cheryl) Swanson of Trommald, Robert (Mary Jo) Swanson of Aurora, CO, and Anton Wettstein of Shoreview; daughters, Carolyn (Bruce) Temte of Burnsville, and Mary Wettstein of White Bear Lake, 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, 1st wife, Anne; son, Russell Jr., 1 brother, Arthur and 4 sisters, Doris Roepke, Muriel Latocki, Evelyn Branton and Lorraine DePew. Services will be 11 am Tuesday, November 13th at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Crosby. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis 11 am Wednesday. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services at church Tuesday.
