James N. Wasmer, age 54, of 2232 Main Ave., Sheboygan and formerly of Green Bay, died at his home on Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Jim was born on April 23, 1945, in the town of Manitowoc Rapids, a son of Edward and Lucille (Blashka) Wasmer. He attended St. Fidelis Catholic School and graduated from Kiel High School in 1963. In 1967 he was united in marriage to Juanita Wetenkamp. Jim was employed for a time with Bullock Garages and was self-employed as a carpenter. He was a member of the Carpenters Union.
Jim is survived by two sons, Paul Wasmer and Michael Wasmer, both of Green Bay; a daughter Vicki (Chad) Lefebvre, Green Bay; four grandchildren, Jordan and Josie Lafebvre and Cody and Kevein Wasmer; his parents, Edward and Lucille Wasmer of Sheboygan; five brothers, Edward (Betsy) Wasmer Jr., Sheboygan; Tony (Ruth) Wasmer, New Holstein; David (Norma) Wasmer, Kiel; Thomas Wasmer, Albuquerque, N.M.; Victor Wasmer, Sheboygan; four sisters, Kathryn (Bill) Karls, Muskego; Nancy (Jim) Frantz, Elkhart Lake; Susan (Glen) Held, Ogden, Utah; Cindy (Robb) Papendieck, Lily, Wi.
He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Annette; a granddaughter Jade Lefebvre and both his materal (sic) and paternal grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the Ramm-Ziegler-Novak-Rettke Funeral Home in Sheboygan, with the Rev. James Jarumbo, pastor of St. Dominic Catholic Church, officiating. Following cremation burial will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home, 726 Michigan Ave., Sheboygan, on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
A memorial fund has been establish in Jame's name for the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic. Jame's family would like to especially thank Dr. Mark Bettag and the staff at the Vince Lombardi Clinic, along with staff of St. Nicholas Hospital and Community Home Nursing and Hospice.
