Edward J. Wasmer, Sr.

Edward J. Wasmer, Sr., age 90, of 910 N. 10th St. died on Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center.

Edward was born August 17, 1915, in the Town of Meeme, a son of the late Joe and Mary (Brotz) Wasmer. He attended St. Fidelis Catholic School. On June 1, 1938, he was united in marriage to Lucille Blashka at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Silver Lake. They celebrated many anniversaries with family including their 65th in 2003. He was employed in the Pottery Department of the Kohler Company and retired from there. Edward loved to play cards and when he was able to, spent many hours fishing. He deeply loved his family. Just the sight of his children or grandchildren could bring a smile to his face.


Edward was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and the Kohler Quarter Century Club.



Edward is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lucille, five sons, Edward (Betsy) Wasmer, Jr. of Sheboygan, Antony (Ruth) Wasmer of Kiel, David (Norma) Wasmer of New Holstein, Thomas Wasmer of Lily, Wis. and Victor Wasmer of Sheboygan; four daughters, Kathryn (Bill) Karls of Muskego, Nancy (Jim) Frantz of Howards Grove, Susan (Duncan) Allen of Ogden, Utah and Cindy (Rob) Papendieck of Lily, Wis; 24 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Adeline Bunke of Santa Barbara, Calif and Helen Stark of Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by a son James, a daughter, Annette, a granddaughter, Tammy Hoffman, a great-granddaughter, Jade Lefure, a brother and two sisters.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 a.m., Monday August 22 at ST. Dominic Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Venne as celebrant. Burial will follow in Catholic Cemetery. Friend and family may call at the church, N.21st and Geele Ave. on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of mass at 11:30 a.m.



A memorial fund has been established in Edward’s name for the St. Dominic Food Pantry and the American Cancer Society.



Edward’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Helminiak, Dr. Haid and Dr. Herman along with the staff at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital and the VNA Hospice for all the care and compassion given to Edward and his family.
