Millers Buried Side by Side at St. Peter's Cemetery
DAY AFTER THEIR 36TH WEDDING DAY
Widow Attends Lambert's Rites on Stretcher
Mr. and Mrs. James L. Miller victims of Thursday night's Link Road collision, were burled today, side by side, in St. Peter's Cemetery, one day after their 36th wedding anniversary.
Separate services were held for Mr. Miller, Sentinel employee for 44 years, and his wife, the former Julia Connors. Rites for the other crash victim, Stuart C. Lambert, were held Sunday afternoon. He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
Catholic services for Mrs. Miller were held at 9:30 o'clock in St. Peter's Church with a cousin, the Rev. Richard P. O'Connor, pastor of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica, celebrating a high mass of
requiem. The Rev. William J. Clarke, assistant at St. Peter's Church, was deacon and the Rev.
John A. Scanlon, also an assistant, the sub-deacon. The Rt. Rev. Monsignor James J. Carson, M. R., V. F., pastor, was in the sanctuary.
After the church services, the mourners returned to the funeral home of Griffin & Aldridge for services for Mr. Miller conducted by the Rev. David N. Boswell, pastor of the First Baptist Church. He read the services and sang "Lead Kindly Light "
Bearers for both Mr. Miller and his wife were William P. Doyle, J. Truman Kahler and Conse R. DeLutis, associates at The Sentinel; Lieut. Walter G. Copia and Capt. Marshall R. Bentley, of the Rome Fire Department, in which Mr. Miller was a volunteer, and W. L. Seegar, long a friend of Mr. Miller. Sentinel employees paid their last respects to Mr. and Mrs. Miller Saturday night and yesterday members of Rome Hook & Ladder Co 1, of which Mr. Miller was a member, called
Among the profusion of floral expressions of sympathy were those from Rome Sentinel employees, Izaak Walton League, Rome Sentinel Co., Rome Hook & Ladder Co., news room of The Sentinel, Independent Hose Co. 1, relatives, friends and neighbors.
Services for Mr. Lambert, at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, were conducted at the Wesleyan
Methodist Church by the Rev. Harley S. Hill, pastor. Prayer services at the Griffin & Aldridge funeral
home were held a half-hour earlier.
Mrs. Lambert, who was seriously injured in the same accident, attended the rites, being taken from
the Rome Hospital to the funeral home on an ambulance cot. She was returned to the hospital immediately after the services.
Bearers for Mr. Lambert were Gerald Blood. Parton Griffin, Merton Keller, John Burkhardt, Fred
Burkhardt and Harold Burkhardt. There was a profusion of floral offerings.

Mrs. J. L. Miller was born at Waterville, November 4, 1878, a daughter of the late William and Mary Burke Connors. Her maiden name was Julia Mary Connors.
She was married to Mrs. Miller May 1, 1902, in the parochial residence of St. Peter's Church, by the late Rev. Aloysius Murphy. She was a member of St. Peter's Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Catherine F. Larkin, who resides on Link Rd, Coonrod, a short distance from the scene of the accident; and Mrs. Thomas Greenan, Philadelphia, PA; and two brothers, John Connors, Utica, and Edward F. O'Connor, Utica.
