Dr. Gerald L. "Jerry" McKay Marshall Dr. Gerald L. "Jerry" McKay, 62, of Marshall, went home to be with the Lord, November 4, 2012, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. Dr. McKay was born on August 19, 1950, in Flint to John and Azel (Disberry) McKay. He graduated from Flint Southwestern High School. He furthered his education at Mott Community College and would earn his doctorate in Chiropractic from Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa in 1975. Dr. McKay owned his own practice McKay Chiropractic in Battle Creek for several years. He took the practice over from Dr. Wells, after he retired, and Dr. McKay worked with him for many years. Dr. McKay felt his hands were doing the work of the Lord by helping others. Dr. McKay was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marshall, Michigan Association of Chiropractors, and the Toast Masters. He was an avid fisherman, and would try to fish at every chance he got. He enjoyed going to fishing camps in Canada, and traveling though out Michigan fishing on the Great Lakes. Dr. McKay was a great writer, and he had his articles published in many Chiropractic Journals. He was an excellent gourmet cook and would enjoy making smoked salmon, barbeque ribs, steaks, and chicken for his family and friends. Dr. McKay also enjoyed following the Detroit Tigers and Lions and watching Saturday afternoon westerns. He is survived by his Fiancé Lynda Sherrell of Marshall, two daughters Roseanna and Brenna McKay. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers John and Robert. Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 4-6 p.m. with family present to greet friends at that time. Funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home with Pastor John Gilley officiating. A gathering will follow the services at the Kempf Funeral Home Reception hall. Memorial contributions are being requested to the Jerry L. McKay Memorial Fund.
