David, a native of Blanford, Mass., first came to Richmond in 1799, on his return from a prospecting tour in Ohio. Struck with the beauty of the country here in the Indian summer time, he bought a farm which he afterwards sold to Elias Gilbert, and the next February came with his wife and settled thereon.
