Richard Maghakian, 54, of Brookline NH died Jan. 1, 2002, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua NH. Mr. Maghakian was born Aug. 13, 1947, in Chelsea MA, son of Jonathan and Veronica (Kayajanian) Maghakian of Saugus MA. He had been a resident of Brookline for the past 28 years and had formerly lived in Saugus.
He was the husband of Evalyn (Hart) Maghakian of Brookline, to whom he had been married for 30 years.
Mr. Maghakian was a 1965 graduate of Saugus High School. He graduated from Salem (Mass.) State College in 1969 and earned his master's degree in education from Fitchburg (Mass.) State College. Mr. Maghakian was the principal of the Brookline Elementary School in Brookline for 32 years. He was a member of the National Association of Elementary School Principals and New Hampshire Association of Elementary School Principals. In addition, he was a member of the American Corvette Club and was active in all Brookline youth sports. He enjoyed golf.
Besides his parents and wife, survivors include his daughters Lee Ann Lewis of Brookline, Stacy Lynn Maghakian of Merrimack NH, and Jill Veronica Maghakian of Allentown PA; granddaughter Paige E. Lewis of Brookline; sister Linda Kervin of Falmouth MA; brother-in-law Frederick Hart, Sr., of North Attleboro MA; sister-in-law Deborah Woods of South Attleboro MA; and nine nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are Thursday, Jan. 3, and Friday, Jan. 4, 6-9 p.m. in The Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm St., Milford. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Captain Samuel Douglass Academy, Townsend Hill Road, Brookline. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Brookline.
