The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona
Wednesday, November 07, 2012

Judge Lester Skrumbellos was born to Konstantine and Katherine Skrumbellos, immigrants from Europe, on June 15, 1936.

On Nov. 1, Lester died peacefully at the age of 76 with his family by his side.

At the age of 17, Lester joined the Army and served as a qualified tanker and sharpshooter in Germany.

Lester came to Arizona from Michigan in 1960 and went to work in Phoenix.

He became a deputy sheriff in 1962 and was stationed at Wickenburg, where he established a home.

He served as deputy until July 5, 1966, when he resigned to seek public office as Justice of the Peace, which he served for 21 years.

Camping, hunting, fishing, boating, and four-wheeling were some of his cherished memories. When Lester was along, you were sure to be surprised with a water balloon or a quick dunk in the lake.

He is survived by his three daughters Denise Skrumbellos, Leslie (Calvin) Marshall, and Tammy Monnett; grandchildren Cosmo Call, Ed (Tess) Dickinson, June Dickinson, Annie (Ty) Pollay, Shane (Kathleen) Monnett, Jessi (Kelsey) Monnett, and Kaleen (Ben) Root; and great-grandchildren Alex Calden, Braden Dickinson, Wylie Blaise, Carver Monnett, and Dawson and Reese Root.

Lester loved the White Mountains of Arizona, and the ash-scattering will take place in Heber with close family and friends.
