On Tuesday July 4, 2000 God called Erma Cowline Taylor King home to eternal rest. She was born August 21, to the late Willie and Pauline Taylor in Kenbridge, VA. She was educated in the Lunenburg County public school system.

At an early age, Erma accepted Jesus Christ, was baptized and became a member of St. Matthew's Baptist Church in Kenbridge, VA. Later, she was united in Holy matrimony to her loving husband Frederick H. King, Jr. From this union, they were blessed with two children, Sandra Yarnell and Frederick Henry, III. Erma, her husband, and children moved to Washington, DC where she became a member of the Upper Room Baptist Church family. She attended faithfully for many years and enjoyed Wednesday Noonday Prayer Service.

As a Volunteer Health Technician, she worked with the D.C. Public Schools and attended the Johnson Business School. She was partner with her husband and son at the Little Furniture Shop of Coral Hills, MD for 33 years.

Erma was the dispatcher for the Neighborhood Watch Program and an active member of the Penn Brach Civic Association. Erma was lovingly known as "Suzie" to her husband and "Ahma" to her three grandchildren. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was sincere, honest, loyal, and self-sacrificing. Erma is now at peace with God and rejoicing in her heavenly home. Those who knew Erma were touched by her warm spirit and her wisdom and inspired by her strength.

Erma was preceded in death by two sisters, Althea Goodwyn and Otis Adams, and one brother, Raymond Taylor. She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving and devoted husband Frederick H. King; one daughter, Sandra Y. Chambers; one son, Frederick H. King, III; one son-in-law, Astor Chambers; three grandchildren: Jason King, Amanda King, and James Chambers; and a host of relatives and friends.
