Bill was born November 9, 1948 in Evansville, Indiana to George and Margaret Wimpelberg. He was a 1966 graduate of North High School. Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served in Wiesbaden, Germany and Vietnam. He retired from Ferro Corporation in 2010.
Bill was a member of the Order of the DeMolay, a past District Chief of German Township Fire Department, former F.J. Reitz Marching Band Booster President, Boy Scout Troop 374 and Order of the Arrow, YABA Bowling Coach. Bill was also a member of North Park Baptist Church. He enjoyed the Men's Golf League at Cambridge Golf Course and was an avid fan of NASCAR. To say he idolized Tony Stewart is a understatement.
Bill is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cindy (Hartweck) Wimpelberg; his sons, Jacob and Donald Wimpelberg; brother, Bud (Judy) Wimpelberg and sister, Elsie (Jack) Ervin and many nieces and nephews.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, George in 2008, and his mother, Margaret in 1984.
Funeral services will be held 11AM on Saturday, Oct 27, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Dan Sigler and Rev. Art Christmas officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit from 2-8PM Friday, Oct 26, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home and from 10AM until service time on Saturday.
