Thoughts on My Bereaved Friends
Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Cornell

A brother, a sister dear,
Have passed from this life away;
Our hearts are lonely, none to cheer,
As we travel down life's way.

They are gone--never to return,
They sleep in death's repose,
We miss them. Our hearts do mourn
In silence for the loved ones.

They lived just over the way,
This brother and sister so dear,
Their home is left so desolate,
Their voices no more we hear.

We miss them, yes we miss them,
Our hearts are ready to break.
Jesus hast promised: I'll be your friend,
I never will leave or forsake.

Dear friends, then look to Jesus
Methinks you I'll hear him say:
I will gather the jewels
In that glad and glorious day.

He doth not willingly afflict,
He tells us so in his word,
But through afflictions deep
We must follow our risen Lord.

Oh hearts, cease thine aching,
Be thou reconciled,
Soon, the glad awakening--
It is only a little while.

Jesus is soon coming,
The righteous will come forth
Robed in garments glistening,
And the new made earth.

Friends will be united
Never to part again,
Then hearts will cease their aching,
And a glorious home have gained.
Mrs. N.R. Bolles.
Springboro, Pa., July 24, 1892.
