Obituary published in the Uniontown Morning Herald, Uniontown, PA., on Tuesday, December 17, 1950, as follows:

John Jamison, 86, Dies in Greensburg. Greensburg, Dec. 18--(A.P.)
Former State Senator, John M. Jamison, 86, board chairman of the Jamison Coal and Coke Company, here, died here following a long illness.

Member of a pioneer family which came to this region in 1764, from Ireland. Jamison graduated from Princeton University in 1887 and was admitted to the Westmoreland County Bar in 1888. He practiced law a few years, and then joined his father in founding the coal company, which bears his name in 1892.

He became president of the firm in 1903 and later was elected the chairman of the board. The Company has extensive operations in West Virginia.

Jamison was Republican county committee chairman and was elected to the State Senate in 1908.

Survivors include his widow and three daughters. They are Mrs. Thomas Lynch, Mrs. Joseph Cote and Mrs. Paul Ecower, all of Greensburg."
