info from Richard
Robert Smith Jamison was a farmer and leader in animal husbandry and an innovator in labor-saving machinery. In 1880, he purchased large tracts of land in Westmoreland, especially in the area of today’s Twin Lakes Park, in partnership with others. He married Caroline Wible (1838-1905). His residence was in East Greensburg, Hempfield Township, before the boro became incorporated with the City of Greensburg in 1905. The first Jamison residence was along the Greensburg Pike, forerunner of the Lincoln Highway, today’s East Pittsburgh Street. His son built a later residence on the same plot of land. It is today’s Diocese of Greensburg’s Chancery offices. The original name of the house was Eastgate, not Tollgate, as some believe
