Mr. Charles "Bogie" Bell, 75, of Valley died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 4 at 11 a.m. at Langdale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Thompson and the Rev. Bill Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his wife, Ida Faye Bell; his daughter, Jennifer (Terry) Reaves of Valley; his mother, Ruth Bell of Valley; his brother, Don Bell of LaGrange; his sister, Shirley Kemp of Dunwoody, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Charles David Reaves and Jessica Reaves, both of Valley. Mr. Bell was born May 22, 1929 in Montgomery, Ala. He played football at Auburn University in 1949 as a freshman and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served two years in the U.S. Army and four years in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from WestPoint Stevens, where he worked in the Engineering Department at the Service Center. He was a member of Langdale United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Harold Bell Sr. The family respectfully declines the honor of flowers and asks that memorials be made to the Humane Society or to one's favorite charity in his memory. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley. Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley is in charge of arrangements.
