Lena Beatrice Sadler: Fairview Manor resident Lena Beatrice Sadler died at Almonte General Hospital Jan 22, 1987 following a lengthy illness. She was in her 84th year. She was born the daughter of the late Alfred Saunders and his late wife Minnie (nee Hoerle) in Carleton Place Sept 12 1903. Carleton Place was also the setting of her marriage to Howard Sadler June 18, 1924 She is survived by sons Bruce of Carleton Place, Carl of Almonte and Ray of Battleford, Saskatchewan; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A great-grandchild, a grandchild, brothers Richard, James, Albert and William and sisters Minnie (Mrs Lloyd Gilbert), Eva (Mrs Dan Black) an Mabel (Mrs Thomas Stephens) predeceased her. A homemaker, Mrs Sadler was a lifelong resident of Lanark County. She was educated in Carleton Place. She worked in the Almonte United Church as junior Choir director, choir member and soloist, instigator of the Christmas fair and on many church committees. The funeral was conducted by Rev Jack Lougheed at Almonte United Church Jan 26. Spring interment is planned at Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were Robert Sadler, Russell Saunders, Keith Morris, Ronald Robertson, Russell Turner and Stuart McDougall.
