His father is NOT William A Lawing (1797-1861) of Mecklenburg County, but William Lawing (abt 1799-abt 1875) who died in Washington Co, TN. These are two different people, although cousins. The father was another William A Lawing and mother was Elizabeth Hogan Lawing. A burial site cannot be located for either parent. The other Lawings located in this cemetery are Elizabeth Lawing Guinn (his sister), John W Lawing (his son), Joseph Lawing (his grandson) and Mary E Lawing (his granddaughter). William A Lawing did have a second marriage after the death of Elizabeth Hogan and six known children were born from this second marriage to Lucinda Harris.
William A and Jane Waddell Lawing were not from the Tennessee area but the North Carolina area. Eight known children are from their marriage.
