Henry William, William Henry or Henry William Writter Androus (depending on which record), was born in Vermont.

He married Francis Amanda Hills on August 2, 1837 at Margaretta twp, Huron County, Ohio, the celebrant being Xenophan Betts.

In 1838, Erie County was created from northern Huron County which included Margaretta, Groton & Oxford townships.

The family resided in Erie county, Ohio for several years and several of their children were born here. Between 1855 & 1856, the family began to move west. They were in Iowa in November 1856 when their 9th child, Amanda Viola Androus was born. They were still in Iowa in September 1857 when their 7th child, Mary Ednah Androus, died. She was helping throw buffalo chips on the fire when her dress caught fire. This haulted their westward migration for three years. The family began again in the spring of 1860 arriving in October at the Kingdon Ranch Hotel in Brown's Valley, Yuba County, California.

Henry acquired 160 acres of land in Long Bar Twp, near Loma Rica, in section 31. It was 13 miles north of Marysville on Loma Rica Rd.

On July 19, 1866, he registered on the Great Register of Yuba county, as William Henry Androus, age 66, born in Vermont, residing in Long Bar township. This would give a birth year about 1800. The information remained the same on all registers up to 1880, when he re-registered on September 28, 1880 at which time he registered as William H Androus, age 79, born in Vermont, residing in Long Bar township. This would give a birth year of about 1801.

Henry died May 25, 1889 near Honcut. His death notice in the "Marysville Daily Democrat"; Monday evening, May 27, 1889, stated: "ANDROUS - Near Honcut, May 25, 1889, Henry Androus, a native of Vermont, aged 88 years, 9 months, and 15 days." This would make his birthday Jun 10, 1800. This is the date I've used for this memorial.
