SAGINAW George L. Hoover, 90, of East Manchester Township, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2014, at Colonial Manor in York. He was the husband of Geraldine M. (Miller) Hoover, who passed away on May 24, 2008. George was born April 23, 1924, in East Manchester Township, and was the son of the late Raymond and Lillian (Miller) Hoover. After graduating from Red Lion High School, George proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. He worked as a draftsman for Borg Warner, York International in York before retiring. He was also employed as a Mail Courier for Dauphin Deposit and many would remember his smiling face and cheery greeting at McDonalds in Manchester. He was a member of the Wago Club in Mount Wolf and the Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493, also in Mount Wolf. George was a former member of Community Church in Saginaw. George is survived by his two sons, George R. Hoover of Mount Wolf, and Philip R. Hoover of Dallastown; his daughter, Linda Van Goor of Cumberland, R.I.; his grandson, Justin M. Van Goor; and his sister, Marion Krecker of Elizabethtown. His funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Philip K. Nace.
