KENNETH HAWK Kenneth L. Hawk, 77, passed away Nov. 4, 2010, due to a heart attack. He was born in Effingham, Kan., May 14, 1933 to John and Wilma Hawk. Ken was a graduate of Atchison High School in 1951, served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955 and married the former Kay Palmer in Hays, Kan. in 1957. He graduated from Ft. Hays State University in 1965, receiving a bachelors and masters degrees. He was controller of the University from 1959-1966. He became the very first vice president of Missouri Western University in St. Joseph, Mo. from 1966-1991. He received his pilot's license in 1970 and his CPA in 1988. Ken was active in Lions Club, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. In 1991, Ken and Kay moved to Henderson. Ken is survived by his wife, Kay; sister, Karen Jordan of Gladstone, Mo.; two nieces; and a nephew. Celebration of his life will be 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at MacDonald Ranch, Willows Clubhouse, 2020 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson.
