Charlotte Ruth (Erickson) Stinar, the daughter of Edward and Esther (Shefland) Erickson, was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Hunter Township, Jackson County, Minn. Charlotte went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, where she had been a resident for the last three years, at the age of 92.

Charlotte grew up on the family farm with her parents and three brothers. She received her education in the Lakefield schools, graduating from Lakefield High School in 1938.

On March 30, 1941, Charlotte was united in marriage to Leslie Stinar in Lakefield, Minn. During World War II they located to the Army base at Paris, Texas. Leslie's platoon was sent to Okinawa, Japan where they fought in the Pacific Theater and Charlotte later returned to Minnesota. After the war, they moved from Lakefield to Estherville in 1948 where they stayed and raised their family. Charlotte enjoyed sewing, crocheting and cooking and baking for her family. She began working for Butterfield Produce in the 50's and remained with the business -- which became Farmers Egg, Land O Lakes and Estherville Foods. She retired in 2000 and celebrated her retirement and 80th birthday the same day.

She was an active volunteer in RSVP, Babes program, Demoney School reading program and many other community services. She was a long time member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Good Samaritan Society Auxiliary. She was an active member of Estherville Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, attended Circle, Quilting and was financial secretary for the ELCW for many years. She loved her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charlotte was a joy to be with and was a great encourager and friend.

Left to cherish Charlotte's memory are her daughter, Sandra Krout of Lake Park; son, Warren Stinar and his wife, Joyce of Estherville; two grandchildren, Brian Stinar and Jeff Stinar; step granddaughter, Amy Krout; great grandchildren, Logan, Ashley, Emily and Landon Stinar; brother, Dale Erickson and his wife, Clarene; sister-in-law, Rosella Erickson and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
