Jerry, 53, of Ithaca, died Friday, November 2, 2012, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland, with his family at his side. Jerry was the son of James E. and F. Joan (Peet) Abell.

He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1978, and married Teresa Taylor on May 3, 1980. He worked for Scotland Oil in Alma for the last seven years.

Jerry loved being outdoors and sports. He was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and football. He had a great sense of humor.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 32 years, Teresa; his children, Justin (Cindy) Abell of St. Louis and Hailey Abell of Ithaca; two grandchildren, Taylor and Emily Parmelee; his mother, Joan Abell of Ithaca; his brothers and sisters, Tom (Gloria) Abell of Ithaca, Jim (Betty) Abell of Ithaca, Joe (Tina) Abell of Sumner, Linda (Rod) MacDonald of Ithaca, Mary (Gary) Howerton of Lansing, and Julie Abell of Ithaca; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Abell; and his sisters, Deb and Joan.

Funeral services were Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Pastor Charlie Lyons officiating.
