Mr. Barnhart, who was born in Chikaming township, was a son of George and Mary Barnhart. Until his health failed, he had owned and operated a sheet metal shop.
He was married to Elizabeth Huss in Buchanan on Nov. 7, 1895.
For over 50 years he had belonged to the Evangelical church in Buchanan. Possessor of a fine voice, he also had sung in the choir of that church over half a century. He was a member of the Buchanan camp of Modern Woodmen of America.
Surviving Mr. Barnhart are his widow, one brother, Oliver Barnhart of Buchanan, and one sister, Mrs. Andrew Johnson of Niles.
